Turning Down Offers
Recently I was offered a position with a major internet search engine. The issues were that we would have to move to an area where the cost of living was 50% higher than Boston, and that I really like my job now. The only benefit to going would be that my salary would have been double what it is now, but after the cost of living increase would only amount to an increase of $10,000 per year.
We didn’t think that it would be the best situation for us though. Our families are all on the east coast and the Queen being a teacher wouldn’t be able to leave until June, which means that we would be separated and maintaining duplicate domiciles for seven months, which definitely would have been bad financially.
