It’s that time of year again. That time, when you should sit down and put together a list of items that you should start compiling, in an effort to get ready to filse those income tax forms.
I like to start early on gathering this information. I am not the most organized person in the world, and while I do a good job of keeping the necessary paper work, I don’t do a good job of organizing it.
If your like me, you’ll need a fairly long time to compile any tax materials that you may need come mid to late March. Oh, did I mention that I am a procrastinator? Some of the materials that you may want to get into a folder now may include business receipts, receipts for any estimated taxes paid, receipts for state or local taxes paid, previous years tax returns and any other information that you might think that you will need.
I won’t just sit down and hammer this our in a day. Instead, I compile a list of what I am looking for, and will collate items as I run across them. Once I have all my 1099s, W2s and student loan interest statements, I will do a more thorough job of locating any remaining items.
So, it is that time of year again. Time to start organizing for the big tax day.
