Day 176: More Ecost.com Updates


Well, in between posting this yesterday and writing this now, I received a letter from our credit card company regarding our little dispute with Ecost.com.

The letter says that they credited our account for a charge of $1.00. That’s incorrect, though our online activity shows a credit for the proper amount. The letter also says that the merchant may decline the reversal of the charge. That doesn’t seem right.

Any way here is the letter in it’s whole (identities removed to protect the innocent)…

Dear King of Debt, We have done a preliminary investigation of yoru dispute pertaining to the eCost.com – Promo charge in the amount of $1.00 appearing on 8/8/2006. Your disputed amount, as well as all associated fees and charges have been removed from your avvount. Please note the merchant may decline the reversal of the charge. Consequently, the transaction may be put back on your account and you will be responsible for the balance. If yoru require further assistance with your account, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, The Credit Card Company
